Happy Holidays!
A holiday guide to joy, wellbeing and peace of mind.
Wow! We did it. Another year and time to enjoy the holidays. I know, it may not feel like there’s much to celebrate at this time given the latest news. But let’s take a moment and realize there are likely several positive things to be thankful for even if you have to dig a little deep to find it.
If you have the opportunity to share this holiday with friends and family even if it’s a limited group number, you should focus on that, not what you may be missing out on. Even if its virtual yes, its not ideal but its still connection. Now, these are things to be grateful for don’t you think?
Here are a few more to consider:
- Are you and your family safe and healthy?
- Are you sharing gifts with your loved ones?
- Do you have holiday indulgent food to enjoy?
These are simple pleasures, yet many are without this joy and security. So, if you can say yes to the above be thankful, grateful and all around embrace the goodness in your life.
Now that you can find some nuggets of joy how about you and your selfcare and wellbeing during this time? Too often we allow the external pressures to whisk us around and before we know it our holiday is over and its back to the grind. Ugh! So, what can we do to ensure we give ourselves this time to recoup, reenergize and give back to ourselves?
This is your opportunity to be present in the moment. Enjoy those around you and remember its better feeling exhausted from making memories with the ones you love. Rather than plugging away to meet a deadline, a target or whatever you are trying to achieve in your day-to-day job. Don’t worry it will still be there in the New Year. Giving yourself this break and time away will only refuel you to come back feeling recharged and energized to tackle whatever you’re going back to. Don’t be afraid to take this time, YOU deserve it! You really do.
How can you succeed in this? Well, its simple yet takes some intention and commitment. Just be aware:
- Be OK with saying no if its not serving you
- Be OK with setting some boundaries to protect your energy and time
- Let go of worrying about what doesn’t truly matter in this moment
- Allow yourself rest even if its just a 20 min power nap
- Leave the guilt behind when indulging in some favourite delights. NOW is the right time to enjoy guilt free
- Mute your phone and be present
Whatever it is that makes you feel happy, alive, or peaceful is the goal. You deserve this time, you deserve this joy, you deserve to give back to yourself so you can show up feeling strong and balanced. To you, to the holidays and cheers to the New Year!
Just breathe…..and enjoy….
All the very BEST to you and your families this Holiday Season!
With love & gratitude,
Catherine
